Panucation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that delivers engaging STEAM education to learners. We do so through online courses, professional development, and community events. Our website address is https://www.panucation.org.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form and the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

Panucation will save your email address if you contact us. Panucation does not share emails. If you wish to have your email removed, please contact codeon@panucation.org with the request, and Panucation will remove the requested email address from our systems.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year. If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data, and we discard it when you close your browser. When you log in, we will set up several cookies to save your login information and screen display choices. Login cookies last two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. We do not share any contact information transmitted via this site or email outside Panucation.

How long we retain your data

We retain the comment and its metadata indefinitely if you leave a comment. This way, we can automatically recognize and approve any follow-up comments instead of holding them in a moderation queue. For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profiles. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any information you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you, not including any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Class : Mars Pioneer

Description

Students use block code to build an interplanetary story and game. Multi-themed projects include elements of storytelling, art, animation, music, and game design all in one. Projects emphasize creativity by encouraging students to build their unique stories each day.

Intermediate Level course is suitable for students familiar with block coding.

Class Levels:  Intro for Ages 7-12, Intermediate for Ages 9-12 Prerequisite for Intermediate: My First Intro to Coding! or previous course
Agenda

1. Design Your Journey

Tell your story. Who’s going, create/draw your ship, prepare Perseverance for launch.

2. Launch & Transit

 Animating departure from Earth and through space. Is there an imposter on board?!

3: Land & Explore

Create a game to land on target. Explore and decide what (or who) you’ll find.

4: Drone Time

Launch the drone, Ingenuity, and create your scrolling background effect as it flies.

5: Should I stay or should I go?

How does your story end, or does it continue to the next chapter?

Learning Outcomes
  • Learn to connect online, screen share, use chat to communicate with Coach and fellow students (on-line collaboration via Zoom)
  • Learn fundamentals of computer science using Scratch
  • Multi-day projects include integrated elements of storytelling, art, animation, music, and game design.

For 4th to 7th grade classes, there are additional learning outcomes:

  • Students add depth to their creations with additional project coding.
  • Intermediate level classes cover material faster to allow for more coding depth to projects
